Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Position in Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering
The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering (IMSE) within the Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE) at Texas Tech University located in Lubbock, Texas, USA is inviting applications for a full-time non-tenure track position. Founded in 1934, the department is one of the first IMSE departments in the nation and the first in the state of Texas.
Texas Tech University is a comprehensive Tier I research university that includes law and medical schools with an enrollment of more than 41,000 students total. Texas Tech University is a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). There is a vibrant and energetic research atmosphere both within the IMSE department and across departments in the WCOE, University, and the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. The IMSE department also actively supports the WCOE research thrust areas of Energy, Water, Engineers in Medicine, Infrastructure, Nanotechnology and Big Data/Data Visualization and has numerous laboratory facilities (manufacturing, biofabrication, tissue assembly and nanofabrication, complex systems modeling, control, and optimization, ergonomics and safety), and is home to a multidisciplinary center related to safety (http://www.depts.ttu.edu/cehrop/). The IMSE department is seeking applicants with a strong passion for teaching within the realm of industrial and systems engineering. Qualified candidates must be able to teach in one or more of the following different areas: Human Factors, Manufacturing, Operations Research, and Systems and Engineering Management. Qualified candidates must possess an M.S. or Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or closely related field, be eligible to work in the United States, and have excellent communication skills. It is anticipated that candidates will teach 3-4 classes per term, depending on departmental needs. Candidates will teach primarily undergraduate courses but depending on their qualifications and departmental needs may also teach some graduate courses. Candidates must be comfortable and able to teach some sections with 100 or more students and teaching assignments may include some distance education sections. Previous teaching experience, in particular experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students, is highly desirable. Service to the department is expected including program-building efforts and student advising and mentoring. Interest and experience in innovative pedagogies is preferred but not required.
