About the Department
The Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is
one of only five named industrial and systems engineering departments in
the United States and is consistently ranked among the top programs in
the country. The department currently has a rich and diverse research
portfolio in teaching and research in advanced manufacturing, biomedical
manufacturing, health systems, human systems, logistics, production
systems, and systems analysis and optimization.
The department houses two state-funded centers, including The Ergonomics
Center of North Carolina (www.theergonomicscenter.com), which is the
only center of its kind at a U.S. public research institution, and the
Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (camal.ncsu.edu), which
is one of the most advanced manufacturing and 3D printing laboratories
in the country.
The department also supports two other academic programs within the
university, including Operations Research (www.or.ncsu.edu) and
Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering (www.imsei.ncsu.edu).
Our location in Raleigh, NC, represents the eastern point of the
Research Triangle and places us close to three major universities, a

Essential Job Duties
The faculty of ISE invites applications for a professional track faculty
position. Rank is commensurate with education and experience. Rank could
be Lecturer or Senior Lecturer; Assistant Teaching Professor or
Associate Teaching Professor or Teaching Professor; or Professor of the
Practice. The expected start date for this position is Fall 2022.
Candidates will devote their time to the education of undergraduate and
graduate students and will report to the Department Head. Outside of
teaching, faculty are expected to serve as academic advisors to
students, advisor of student groups, or other duties associated with the
academic programs run by ISE. Course responsibilities involve all of the
following:
* Presenting engaging course content that fulfills student learning
outcomes
* Developing exams, quizzes, and homework assignments
* Grading assessments with possible TA support
* Holding office hours
* Maintaining up-to-date course platform (e.g. Moodle)
* Determining and posting course grades
The preferred person will be able to support senior design, including
overseeing course structure, soliciting projects from stakeholders (e.g.
industry, government, non-governmental organizations) in addition to
select other classes such as python, databases, supply chain, or
engineering management. The individual will participate in ABET and
student outcome evaluations.
