Description

The Environmental and Occupational Management Department in the Division of Engineering and Environmental Studies at Methodist University located in Fayetteville, NC, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position for Assistant or Associate Professor in Environmental and Occupational Management commencing August 2022. Rank will depend on qualifications and experience.



The new faculty appointment will begin August 2022, with the application review process to begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Qualified candidates are invited to submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy statement, a concise equity and diversity statement about teaching or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with diverse student populations, and contact information for three references. Candidates with backgrounds in all facets of environmental and occupational management (i.e. environmental health and safety, occupational safety and health, natural resource management) are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those with teaching and research backgrounds and interests in environmental health, occupational safety, natural resource management, and/or waste management. Candidates should possess the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate environmental and occupational management courses, such as industrial processes, industrial hygiene, environmental audits & permits, pollution science, and waste operation management. A highly desirable candidate will be enthusiastic in joining an evolving program and have some industry experience. Additional duties will include mentoring undergraduate students, providing service to the department and university by participating in committees, research, grant writing, and other scholarly activities.


Qualifications

Applicants must possess a terminal degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field.  Applicants are preferred to have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. (ABD considered) in Environmental and Occupational Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or closely related field.



Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience teaching in online and hybrid classroom environments and to applicants with teaching and scholarly experiences that align with the Methodist University commitment to fostering equity and inclusion in all of our university practices.
