Dear IE Colleagues

We cordially invite you to organize a sponsored session in the Decision Analysis cluster at the 2022 Annual INFORMS Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 16 – 19, 2022.

The topic would be be related to decision analysis, broadly defined.

This year INFORMS is trying a new format. Their goal is to schedule all technical sessions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday with five, 75-minute-long tracks. The Meeting will maintain a balance of research presentations delivered as regular-talks (with 4 such talks in a single session), flash-talks (with 10 such talks in a single session) and posters. Flash-talk and poster authors will also have the option to upload a 15-minute archival video which supports their content. Session chairs should focus research presentation sessions on a single theme, but flash-talks can focus on a single theme or a medley of topics.

Please let us know by Wednesday, March 10, 2022, if you are interested in organizing a session, along with the type of session, and your session’s (working) title/theme. As the session chair, your responsibilities will include:
·         Organizing a research presentation session with 4-5 speakers or a flash-talk session with 10 speakers (INFORMS is requiring that every cluster has 1 flash session per 8 research presentation sessions);
·         Identifying at least one (1) talk to be presented as a flash-talk (will contribute to an organized flash session);
• Ensuring all committed speakers have entered title, abstract, and co-authors before May 2, 2022; and
· Chairing the session at the conference, which includes introducing speakers and keeping track of time.

The INFORMS abstract submission platform will have distinct entries for regular-talk sessions and flash-talk sessions to be filled by the Session Chair. If a Session Chair is organizing a regular-talk session, they should enter a minimum of one (1) flash-talk presenter, along with their four (4) regular-talks, in the session. The platform will allow them to clearly distinguish the flash talk during submission. A Session Chair is encouraged to explicitly announce the flash talk presentation option at the time of author invitation and prioritize finding the flash talk presenters. We will help, to ensure that high quality flash talk sessions are assembled at the cluster level thanks to the efforts of all Session Chairs cluster-wide.

Presenters need to enter abstracts by May 16, 2022. Please note that INFORMS will be enforcing a one presentation per registrant rule.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for considering,
Eric and Jun (DAS Cluster Co-Chairs)
