IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2023
Call for Abstracts and Presentation Summaries
Hyatt Regency New Orleans
May 20-23, 2023
Track: K-12 Research
Dear Colleagues,
Please distribute this call to K-12 teachers and students in your areas.
The Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) is sponsoring the K-12 Research (K-12) Track at the IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2023. The K-12 Track will showcase industrial and systems engineering (ISE) related research conducted by high school students.
Several K-12 students have been involved in research via NSF Research Experience for Teachers in Engineering and Computer Science programs. The goal is to give high school students a venue to present their ISE related research. We expect that the students attending this conference will be introduced to a broader range of ISE research and practice. The organizers of this track will identify mentors who will help K-12 students navigate the conference and answer questions related to the field of ISE.
The IISE Annual Conference & Expo is a forum for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in the IISE research and practitioner communities. We encourage students to contribute to the conference and track by submitting a 250-word abstract or presentation summary. Authors will be able to claim these works as refereed extended abstracts, which will be available on the conference website and can be cited. They will not be copyrighted or indexed in the official conference proceedings, and therefore there is no limitation on reusing this material for other purposes (e.g., toward the publication of journal papers or subsequent conference proceedings). Abstracts and presentation summaries are welcome in the following areas:
● Construction Engineering & Management
● Data analytics and Information Systems
● Energy systems
● Engineering economy
● Engineering education
● Engineering Management
● Facilities Design & Planning
● Health systems
● Human factors and ergonomics
● Logistics and supply chain
● Manufacturing and design
● Modeling & Simulation
● Operational Excellence (Lean & Six Sigma)
● Operations Research
● Performance Excellence
● Quality Control & Reliability Engineering
● Sustainable Development
● Systems Engineering

Authors of accepted abstracts and presentation summaries will be invited to present their work in a conference session. Regular sessions will be 80 minutes with multiple presenters. The K-12 Track will organize a competition of the presentations made by students.
