Position Highlights
A career-track Associate/Full Professor of Practice position is available in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at the University of Arizona. The position involves leadership of the Engineering Management Program, which is one of several degree programs in the department including Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Software Engineering. The Associate/Full Professor of the Practice will also have a title of Director, Engineering Management, and will have primary responsibility for supporting student admissions, overseeing undergraduate and graduate advising for approximately 200 Engineering Management students, teaching in person and online courses as assigned, supporting UAZ micro campus locations around the world, serving on graduate student report/thesis committees, collecting ABET accreditation data, pursuing program improvements, organizing the department's Industrial Advisory Board, and performing other duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Associate/Full Professor of the Practice position involves administrative and teaching duties in support of the Engineering Management program. The position carries a teaching load of six courses per academic year (three in the Fall, three in the Spring) and overall leadership of the Engineering Management Program. Engineering Management Program leadership includes, but is not limited to: student recruitment and selection, work towards enrollment growth as part of the College of Engineering's overall strategic objective, faculty advisor for Engineering Management students, sustaining and developing relationships with industry and employers of department graduates to provide internship and project opportunities for students, curricular development with particular emphasis on ABET accreditation and relevance to current and future Engineering practice. Engagement in research is not required but is welcomed.
Minimum Qualifications
* A Ph.D., or M.S. degree in Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field to the teaching duties expected.
* An established record of achievement with recognized expertise as documented in CV and strong letters of recommendation from collaborators and supervisors.
* Teaching experience 6 or more years at the UA or another university at 1.0 FTE. OR
* Commensurate service may be considered when determining years of teaching experience; for this position, more than 10 years of substantive and successful Engineering Management leadership experience can be considered in lieu of teaching experience.
* For this position, particular emphasis is placed on experience supervising the work of other Engineers, with demonstrated organizational growth and/or improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
* Same qualifications as for Associate Professor of Practice.
* Teaching experience 9 or more years at the UA or another university at 1.0 FTE.
* Commensurate service may be considered when determining years of experience; for this position, more than 15 years of substantive and successful Engineering Management leadership experience can be considered in lieu of teaching experience.
* For this position, an individual with both substantive and lengthy successful experience at the, "C-Suite," and/or Senior Vice President (SVP) level within an organization primarily focused on Engineering is preferred.
