The School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) within the College of Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for an instructor to teach in the Manufacturing Engineering program. The instructor position is a fixed-term, non-tenure track, 9-month, part-time position with the possibility of renewal at the discretion of the School Head. There is a potential for a full-time appointment for the 2021-2022 academic year depending upon the qualifications of the candidate and teaching needs.
The School comprises over 60 academic faculty and instructors, 20 professional faculty, staff and research associates who support nearly 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. The School offers undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering. A highly interdisciplinary and collaborative group of faculty and staff in advanced manufacturing is pursuing the broad areas of automation, sensor fusion, smart and sustainable manufacturing, micro- and nano-manufacturing, materials science, and computational modeling.
In addition to on campus teaching, the Instructor may teach online courses through the University's innovative and high-ranking Ecampus. New online courses in mechatronics comprise a four-course sequence encompassing introductory topics, logical control, digital control, and advanced signal processing and emerging topics. The instructor might also teach in the areas of computer aided design and dynamics and controls.
The OSU College of Engineering is committed to being recognized as a national model of inclusivity and collaboration. We strive to develop a community of faculty, students, and staff that is inclusive, collaborative, diverse, and centered on student success. As such, we seek applicants who will broaden our capacity to advance student success across individual identities, racial/ethnic categories and socioeconomic backgrounds.
