The fourth paper is a timely study by John A. Pavlik, Ian G. Ludden,
Sheldon H. Jacobson, and Edward C. Sewell that examines how optimized seat
assignment can be used to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on an airplane (
https://pubsonline.informs.org/doi/abs/10.1287/serv.2021.0269).


The paper has received significant media attention and was featured in a
recent INFORMS news release (

).



I also write to bring to your attention an upcoming special issue on
“Innovation in Transportation-Enabled Urban Services “co-edited by Niels
Agatz, Erasmus University, Soo-Haeng Cho, Carnegie Mellon University, and
Hai Wang, Singapore Management University. You can find the call for paper

I invite you to submit to this special issue. I also invite you to submit
to regular issues. With our recent reorganization of the editorial board (

significantly broadened the coverage of the journal with operations,
