Dear Colleagues –

This year, we continue our searches for two new mid-career and/or senior members with interests in applications of data engineering and AI (artificial intelligence) to various domains, including blockchains, financial engineering/quantitative finance, health systems, and human systems. We seek persons with expertise in various aspects of ISE, including data analytics, operations research, optimization, human factors engineering, and simulation analysis, who have interest in extending research agendas to include AI methods and applications.

These positions are part of a UF Provost initiative identified as the “AI 100”. This past year, UF allocated 46 positions to various colleges and departments for AI-focused hires. Our new AI-related positions are part of distributed research clusters/concentrations across colleges. The attached ads provide further details on each position. The first position is focused on financial technology (FinTech) applications and blockchain for FinTech. This position is part of a cluster with the Warrington College of Business Administration (WCBA) with two other early-career hires in the Finance Department. We seek an individual with skills in modeling for FinTech applications, including use of AI methods. The second position is part of a cluster among several UF colleges with a focus on equity and fairness in AI algorithms/applications. We seek an individual with experience in ISE methods for healthcare and/or human systems design with interest in applying AI methods. In general, these positions represent a strategic opportunity for our department to impact specific application areas through “AI-enabled ISE”. Please note, that both positions have the opportunity of endowed professorships, depending upon candidate qualifications.
