The outcomes of the workshop will inform NSF’s consideration of additional funding for innovative solutions and research at the intersection of these complex issues.

The workshop program will consist of plenary and convergence speaker sessions, which are open to all. In addition, breakouts and integration sessions will facilitate small-group discussion and idea development.

On May 19 and 20, the workshop will split into several parallel tracks focused on generating concrete ideas and forward-looking solutions to advance food security in extreme environments and food deserts, as well as consider societal and institutional needs to achieve these goals.
