Call for Nominations
Editor-in-Chief, The Engineering Economist

On behalf of the IISE Board of Trustees and the American Society for Engineering Education, this is a call for nominations for the position of editor-in-chief of The Engineering Economist. This position is a four-year, non-renewable term beginning January 1, 2021.

The Engineering Economist is a refereed journal that publishes original, high-quality papers on a wide range of topics of interest to engineers and engineering economists. It publishes articles, case studies, surveys, and book and software reviews that represent original research, current practice, and teaching involving problems of capital investment. The papers published cover a number of areas, including capital investment analysis, financial risk management, cost estimation and accounting, cost of capital, design economics, economic decision analysis, real options analysis, engineering economics education and analysis of public policy relevant to the economic investment decisions of engineers and technology managers. Four issues are published each year.

Editor-in-Chief Responsibilities
The editor-in-chief is responsible for the high quality and direction of The Engineering Economist, editorial board appointments, oversight of the publication process of the journal, management of the ASEE Eugene L. Grant best paper award, and enhancing the visibility, impact and prestige of The Engineering Economist. Responsibilities include overall coordination and processing of submissions, reviews, and final copy for the journal; tracking of manuscripts from final copy to publication; coordination with the Eugene L. Grant Award Committee in notifying the best paper award winner each year; and conducting editorial board meetings.

The editor-in-chief will be assisted by area editors and special-issue editors.  The position is a voluntary position and a salary is not provided; however, the publisher provides a stipend to carry out editorial functions.

Editor-in-Chief Qualifications
Qualifications for the editor-in-chief of The Engineering Economist include:
*Membership in IISE
*A demonstrated interest in the broad topics covered by the aims and scope of the journal
*A demonstrated record of research, scholarship and application in one or more of the topical areas covered by the journal
*Prior editorial experience, dedication and enthusiasm for IISE and its journals
*Ability to effectively and efficiently manage the editorial process.

Along with a statement of vision and strategic goals for the journal, nominations should include a resume of individual qualifications with experience that includes engineering research and research administration. Self-nominations are encouraged.  Nominees will be expected to provide the selection committee with a vision statement.  Nominations will be accepted until September 15, 2020.
