We are in our fourth year hosting the Sage Memorial Capstone Design Competition for systems design teams. The competition will be virtual this year.  The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate (masters) teams.

The Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research at George Mason University invites student design teams (undergraduate and master’s level) to participate in the 4th Annual Andrew P. Sage Memorial Capstone Design Competition. The conference will be held virtually on Monday, April 26, 2021.

Professor Andrew P. Sage was one of the Founding Fathers of the field of Systems Engineering and was the first dean of the School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University. The Andrew P. Sage Memorial Capstone Design Competition is a student-focused forum for the design of complex systems. The competition is a leading showcase for undergraduate and graduate (masters) design projects, such as those from capstone design courses or from baccalaureate, honors, or design-oriented graduate theses. Designs should demonstrate systems engineering skills and knowledge to perform all the activities associated with a systems developmental life cycle.

The important dates related to the competition are as follows:
Abstract Due                                                   Feb. 26, 2021
Notification of Acceptance                            Mar. 9, 2021
Registration Deadline                                     Mar. 19, 2021
Final Paper Due                                              Apr. 19, 2021
Day of Competition                                        Apr. 26, 2021

Abstracts should be 300-500 words and concisely summarize the project.

The conference will be online and fees for the conference participation will be waived.
