The School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) within the College of Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for part-time instructors to teach on a term by term basis for the 2020-2021 academic year in Mechatronics for Manufacturing Engineering. The instructor position is a fixed-term, non-tenure track, 9-month, part-time position with the possibility of renewal at the discretion of the School Head.
MIME comprises over 60 academic faculty and instructors, 20 professional faculty, staff and research associates who support nearly 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. MIME offers undergraduate degrees in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, and is establishing an online certificate program in Mechatronics for Manufacturing Engineering through funding from the National Science Foundation. The School of MIME houses a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative group of faculty and staff in Advanced Manufacturing pursuing the broad areas of automation, sensor fusion, smart and sustainable manufacturing, micro- and nano-manufacturing, materials science, and computational modeling.
The Instructor is expected to contribute to and teach in-person and online courses as a part of the new mechatronics for manufacturing engineering program, as well as the potential to teach on campus in areas of computer aided design, dynamics and controls, and related courses. (Due to COVID-19, courses are primarily being taught remotely through Winter 2021).
The OSU College of Engineering is committed to being recognized as a national model of inclusivity and collaboration. We strive to develop a community of faculty, students, and staff that is inclusive, collaborative, diverse and centered on student success. As such, we seek applicants who will broaden our capacity to advance student success across individual identities, racial/ethnic categories and socioeconomic backgrounds.
