I know many of our departments have been engaged in different efforts to support our different regions' COVID response efforts.
For example, here at Texas Tech our department has been working with a consortium comprised of TTU faculty, TTU Health Science Center Faculty, UT branch campus faculty, and Healthcare and Industry professionals to supply face shields,
aerosol/ventilator boxes, disinfection processes, ventilators, face masks, and other things.
We are also coordinating distribution of these items to over 100 hospitals in addition to many nursing homes in West Texas.
We are assessing our plans for the upcoming weeks and a key question is what does the national supply picture look like for face shields, face masks, and other PPE related items?
I have seen some information regarding 3M producing large numbers of masks but in talking with providers here they are still experiencing significant challenges.
What is the shortage situation like in your area?
The shortage situation will clearly get better with time but the time frame seems pretty unclear.
Do any of you have better information regarding the national picture that you can share?
I believe it would help all of us who are engaged in these efforts.
Thanks,
Bryan
