The College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) is pleased to announce the 16th International Material Handling Research Colloquium (IMHRC) that is sponsored by MHI (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.mhi.com&d=DwIFAw&c=Ngd-ta5yRYsqeUsEDgxhcqsYYY1Xs5ogLxWPA_2Wlc4&r=oRsJQ0jtCumeCiPybWXUyzMz3qgQ0fmlfXl9Y_uw6kY&m=vBDKnAkTLQtXWeFirB7ifBmYLbLYdTo7-kVpqza9Hv0&s=4ASEIsc-unsgTh_mZ3KtnGrezOGP7f-M3CgUNiF8Mhs&e= <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.mhi.com&d=DwIFAw&c=Ngd-ta5yRYsqeUsEDgxhcqsYYY1Xs5ogLxWPA_2Wlc4&r=oRsJQ0jtCumeCiPybWXUyzMz3qgQ0fmlfXl9Y_uw6kY&m=vBDKnAkTLQtXWeFirB7ifBmYLbLYdTo7-kVpqza9Hv0&s=4ASEIsc-unsgTh_mZ3KtnGrezOGP7f-M3CgUNiF8Mhs&e= >). This year, IMHRC has a coordinated program with the 10th International Scientific Symposium on Logistics (ISSL), sponsored by BVL International, so attendees will participate in both events during June 15-19, 2020 in Dresden, Saxony, Germany.
IMHRC welcomes researcher in academia and industry who are addressing cutting-edge problems in the planning, design, selection, and operation of facilities, equipment and systems as they relate to the movement, storage, control and, protection of material flowing through supply chains. The immersion philosophy of this event is structured to facilitate dialogue and collaboration by providing participants with a program that includes a mix of invited presentations, structured discussions, poster sessions, facility tours, and social events. Additional information on this event and CICMHE can be found at: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.mhi.org_cicmhe&d=DwIFAw&c=Ngd-ta5yRYsqeUsEDgxhcqsYYY1Xs5ogLxWPA_2Wlc4&r=oRsJQ0jtCumeCiPybWXUyzMz3qgQ0fmlfXl9Y_uw6kY&m=vBDKnAkTLQtXWeFirB7ifBmYLbLYdTo7-kVpqza9Hv0&s=X9L_mGfDT9oHSGA9mo_UzPkDqwubSEySmJQyNXPbSDQ&e= .
The city of Dresden, first mentioned in 1206 and located in the economic heartland of eastern Germany, is the capital as well as the cultural and scientific center of Saxony. It is well-known for its historical architecture, world-class orchestras & boys' choir, and art collections. Key industries of the region are microelectronics & ICT, nanotechnology & new materials, and life sciences & biotechnology.
The Technische Universität Dresden, founded in 1828, will be host to IMHRC 2020.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Authors are encouraged to submit a paper on recently completed or ongoing research that centers on planning, designing, selecting, or operating facilities, equipment, and systems related to the movement, storage, control and protection of material flowing through supply chains. Three types of research that are particularly appropriate for IMHRC are:
(a) Systems that introduce a new material handling logistics system, technology and/or application by presenting a modeling approach, thorough description, and justification.
(b) Models that address an important problem related to a type of facility or system through development and solution of a formal model and computational results.
(c) Paradigms that rigorously introduce a new paradigm or framework for thinking, exploring, designing, representing and modeling facilities, systems or equipment.
In addition, other types of research will be considered if the authors clearly demonstrate creativity and innovation that will contribute to the value of IMHRC.
Submissions
Extended abstracts for IMHRC should be between two to five pages in length and address the scope of the work, the type of research (of the three types identified above), and the expected contribution. Figures and references are encouraged to aid in the reviewers understanding. Submissions should include name, affiliation, and status of all authors, the extended abstract, and identification of the presenting author. Due to the highly selective nature of IMHRC, the presenting author must hold a full-time faculty appointment or to be an industrial researcher. Complete submissions should be emailed to fwillia at clemson.edu no later than January 31, 2020.
Review and Selection
Participation in the colloquium is by invitation only, based on a competitive review process of the extended abstracts by the Scientific Committee. The criteria for paper selection include:
(a) originality, (b) potential for transfer to industrial practice, (c) alignment with the purpose of IMHRC, and (d) readability and conformance to the guidelines. Following the review of extended abstracts, formal invitations to participate will be sent by March 15, 2020.
Conditions and Costs for Participating
Researchers who are selected to attend IMHRC must agree to the following:
* Submit their full papers no later than April 30, 2020. Paper length must be between 8 and 20 pages including figures, tables and references.
* Submit a poster synthesizing the paper's contribution by May 30, 2020.
* Attend all sessions for the full duration of IMHRC and ISSL
Costs
On-site costs will be paid by the sponsors (cost of housing based on single occupancy, organized meal functions and social gatherings) for all invited academic researchers registered as the primary presenter of the research. Participation by co-authors must be approved and requires payment of a registration fee. Travel costs to and from the IMHRC hotel will be paid by the attendees. Spouse, guest, co-author registration expenses are paid by the attendees prior to the event (fee schedule provided upon acceptance).
