Applications are invited for the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) in the College of Engineering at the New Mexico State University (NMSU), the State's Land Grant University. The IE Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs and a Graduate Certificate in Systems Engineering. The IE Department has 4 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and it is anticipated that the Chair will oversee expatiation of the department with additional hires. In addition to overseeing the operational management of the Department, responsibilities of the Chair include: (a) creating a compelling vision for the advancement of the department to include emphasizing Advanced Manufacturing, Operations Research and Analytics, Systems Engineering, and Engineering Management with the goal of creating nationally recognized programs (b) facilitating the professional growth of the faculty, particularly the junior faculty; ensuring state-of-the-art education is provided to all constituents (undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and researchers) and in particular, growing the department's online presence.; (d) Building partnership with the NMSU colleges and departments along with industry and government agencies; (e) recruiting a diverse faculty and student body; (f) increasing sponsored research, private and external funding opportunities for the department.


Required Qualifications

Ph.D., research and teaching experience in industrial engineering, operations research, advanced manufacturing or closely related field is required. In addition, we are seeking an individual who is (a) a distinguished scholar, with demonstrated academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Full Professor level; (b) is committed to high academic standards; ( c ) has a record in the development and expansion of sponsored research programs; (d) is experienced in enhancing the participation and success of underrepresented populations; (e) has excellent leadership, management and interpersonal skills; (f) and encourages open exchange and collaboration in solving complex problems.
