The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track, full-time, position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the UF Research & Engineering Education Facility (REEF) located in Shalimar, Florida.  The anticipated start date for this position is August 2020 with some flexibility for an earlier start based on individual needs.
The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering is currently implementing a major expansion of its faculty and is investing in state-of-the-art facilities to support interdisciplinary research and to enhance engineering education delivery. UF ISE offers BS, ME, MS, and PhD programs. We have approximately 500 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students. The UF-REEF supports the greater Eglin Air Force Base community, including the Air Force Research Laboratory and 96th  Test Wing. The REEF responds to Air Force research and educational needs, including offering courses that may lead to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in ISE. We welcome applications from individuals with strong research backgrounds who hold a doctorate in ISE or closely related field. Successful candidates are expected to teach distance learning graduate courses in ISE and develop an interdisciplinary research program in collaboration with other department and HWCOE faculty.  The incumbent will also supervise postdoctoral work at the REEF and will closely coordinate with the main-campus ISE Department administration and faculty in the development of research and teaching agendas. Candidates with interests in defense, human systems, data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, network security, and systems engineering, and design are strongly encouraged to apply. A strong background in methodologies of optimization, data analytics, human-systems integration, computational simulation and/or statistics is preferred.
