*Summary*

The Department of Health Informatics and Data Science and the Center for
Health Outcomes and Informatics Research (CHOIR) at Loyola University
Chicago invites applications for an immediate postdoctoral research
position opening in medical informatics. We are encouraging applicants with
strong research background in the area of data science, machine learning,
and natural language processing with a focus on healthcare applications.

*Expectations*

The selected candidate will collaborate with Dr. Modave and Dr. Tootooni,
faculty members of the Department of Health Informatics and Data Science
and CHOIR to form research questions, help writing grant proposals, and
publish in top-tier clinical/informatics journals. This is a wonderful
opportunity for junior scientists to get involved with applying artificial
intelligence models on healthcare practice and join collaborative projects
with Mayo Clinic, Loyola University Medical Center, etc.

*Qualifications Requirements*

Candidates must have a doctorate degree in Medical Informatics, Computer
Science, or other related field. Other expected requirements are having
advanced knowledge in computer programming (preferably R or Python),
machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and applied
statistics. Having experience in working with raw EHR data is a plus.

*Department/Center*

The Department of Health Informatics and Data Sciences is one of four
departments hosted in the brand new Parkinson School of Health Sciences and
Public Health. It is a highly multidisciplinary department with a strong
focus on using informatics approaches and data science to improve health
outcomes and reduce health disparities. CHOIR, a part of Loyola University
Chicago’s Health Sciences Division, serves to educate and engage clinical
faculty, healthcare professionals, resident physicians and health sciences
students in the fundamentals of health outcomes research and data-driven
healthcare delivery. CHOIR’s primary objective is to create a data-driven
culture in the service of improved outcomes and health equity.

*Other Statements*

Please note that this is a one-year postdoctoral research position;
however, it is extendable on yearly-basis depending on the budget
availability and performance. Also, we do not offer H1 work visa
sponsorship for this position. Candidates who are already eligible to work
in the US or eligible for J1 visa are preferred. Loyola University Chicago
