[Iefac.list] Postdoctoral Position in Clinical Human Factors Research at MUSC

The MUSC Human Factors Unit is pleased to announce an open position for a post-doctoral scholar in clinical human factors research.

This position will be working at the interface of research, clinical practice, and quality improvement, on a range of operationally-focused projects, including, but not limited to, handoffs, surgical teamwork and performance, operating suite design, sterile services improvement, hospital-related IT and technology implementation, surgical robotics, error modeling, and medication error. The clinical focus will be on anesthesia practice and surgical care and those disciplines that directly support OR safety, and duties may also include root cause analyses, quality improvement, representing human factors on a variety of clinical and administrative teams, utilizing human factors methods for improving health IT user adoption, and developing and delivering healthcare technology integration processes. The work will require collaboration with a wide range of physicians, nurses, staff, administrators, other hospital employees, patients, academics, architects, vendors and any other stakeholders engaged in the design and implementation of clinical systems.
This is a rare opportunity to apply human factors techniques in clinical contexts, for the direct benefit of clinicians and patients, while also developing research, publication and grantsmanship skills for independent research and practice. The position closes on December 6, 2019.
