POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level with an anticipated start date of September 1st, 2019. Candidates who will enhance strategic areas targeted by the department are sought; in particular, emphasis will be placed on applicants with a record of research accomplishments in (1) Systems Analysis and Optimization, (2) Advanced Manufacturing, (3) Logistics and Supply Chain, (4) Stochastic Analysis and Simulation and (5) Data Mining and Analytics. Qualified applicants in all areas of Industrial and Systems Engineering will be considered for the positions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong extramurally funded research program, teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute to mentoring students and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and the potential of developing a strong and externally funded research program.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL, MANUFACTURING AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING: The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering has more than 350 undergraduate and graduate students and has expertise in advanced manufacturing, quality and reliability, operations research, systems engineering, healthcare, and sustainability. Over the past three years, the Department has experienced a significant growth in research expenditures through major grants/contracts from USDA, DHS, NSF, NIST, DoED and aerospace and defense industries like Lockheed Martin Corporation, among others. The Department has access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a class 100/1000 Nanofabrication Center for semiconductor-related work, biomedical research, and MEMS fabrication. The Department maintains a strong collaboration with regional manufacturing industries that provide the opportunity for faculty to work with U.S. and international manufacturing companies. The Department offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Master of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Systems Engineering. Our faculty supervises Ph.D. students in Mechanical Engineering (ME) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Ph.D. programs as well as in several interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs, such as the Computational Science (CPS) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE). The Department is currently developing a proposal for a Ph.D. program in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
