The DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS RESEARCH (IEOR) at
University of California, Berkeley welcomes applications for a tenure-track
faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the broad area of
Operations Management and Logistics the expected start date is July 1,
2019. *Applications are strongly encouraged by November 8 but all
applications received by November 30 will receive full consideration.*

We are particularly interested in individuals who develop new and creative
data-driven solution approaches based on operations research, artificial
intelligence, machine learning or similar methodologies, to improve the
design and performance of operations in business sectors including
transportation, manufacturing, and online and traditional services,
including healthcare.

The department offers BA, BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees and is at the
forefront of research and teaching of operations research and data
analytics methods, as well as the advancement of quantitative methodologies
to solve problems in the areas of healthcare, logistics, supply chain
management, energy, security, finance, and e-commerce. The department has
strong ties with other departments in the UC Berkeley College of
Engineering and enjoys close relationships with the departments of
Statistics, Mathematics, and Economics, as well as with the Haas School of
Business. Our location in the San Francisco Bay Area also offers

 Clear vision for future original research in relevant topics and cross
disciplinary collaboration

 Ability and enthusiasm for teaching relevant courses, including the
ability to communicate concepts to students at all levels

or an equivalent international degree. In addition to the qualifications
listed above, the ideal candidate will haveexperience with state-of-the-art
methods, tools, and software and the potential to secure research funding
from governmental, non-profit, or industry sources.
