Open Rank Faculty Positions in Manufacturing and Human Factors
The Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (IMSE) Department at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for tenure/tenure-track faculty positions in manufacturing and human factors with a tentative starting date of fall 2019. Candidates with expertise in additive manufacturing, robotics, and automation are encouraged to apply for the manufacturing position. Candidates with expertise in human-machine interface, automation, and environmental health and safety are encouraged to apply for the Human Factors position. Exceptionally qualified candidates may also be considered for the George and Elizabeth Pickett Professorship.
New faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, build and lead a team of Ph.D. researchers, develop externally funded research programs, and serve on committees within UTA research community. New faculty will have opportunities to work with the Division of Enterprise Development, which develops targeted training programs to support local and regional industry.
UTA is a Carnegie Research-1 institution. With a projected global enrollment of more than 58,000 in AY 2018-19, UTA is the largest institution in The University of Texas System. UTA fosters interdisciplinary research within four broad themes: health and the human condition, sustainable urban communities, global environmental impact, and data-driven discovery. The College of Engineering houses seven departments: Bioengineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering; Materials Science and Engineering; and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. With over 7,000 students, the College is among the largest in Texas and is the most comprehensive engineering school in the region.
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree (All-But-Dissertation, ABD, cases will be considered) in industrial engineer or a closely related area. IMSE expects all candidates considered for the rank of Assistant Professor to have demonstrated exceptional research promise. Candidates for senior openings must be a leader their research area. The IMSE department also has a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and service.
