[Iefac.list] ABET Program Criteria for Industrial Engineering

Dear colleagues:
 I am writing on behalf of the IISE Accreditation Advisory Council, to seek your input on whether and how the current IE program criteria should be modified.  Even though our discipline has changed significantly over the past two decades, our Program Criteria has not!
 While all accredited Engineering Programs must demonstrate that their graduates achieve a series of student outcomes (http://www.abet.org/accreditation/accreditation-criteria/criteria-for-accrediting-engineering-programs-2016-2017/#outcomes<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.abet.org%2Faccreditation%2Faccreditation-criteria%2Fcriteria-for-accrediting-engineering-programs-2016-2017%2F%23outcomes&data=01%7C01%7Cbidanda%40pitt.edu%7C908addc464ad417c36bf08d57326fd91%7C9ef9f489e0a04eeb87cc3a526112fd0d%7C1&sdata=XYpT2VQuRlMi59RMoihN%2FqSdII1mV%2FkEdJRqntC8I3M%3D&reserved=0>), individual professional societies can add program criteria, that will set their discipline apart from others.
The current IISE Program Criteria reads as follows:

Curriculum
The curriculum must prepare graduates to design, develop, implement, and improve integrated systems that include people, materials, information, equipment and energy. The curriculum must include in-depth instruction to accomplish the integration of systems using appropriate analytical, computational, and experimental practices.

Faculty
Evidence must be provided that the program faculty understand professional practice and maintain currency in their respective professional areas. Program faculty must have responsibility and sufficient authority to define, revise, implement, and achieve program objectives.
