The School of Economics, Management and Project Management, one of three schools in the College of Business, is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in Project Management, effective Fall 2018. This position requires teaching project management courses at graduate (on-line) and undergraduate (face-to-face) levels, scholarly research, advising, and service activities. A commitment to active engagement with professionals in the regional business community supporting economic development is expected.

The normal teaching load is 18 semester hours per academic year. Some teaching responsibilities may be at off-site locations and/or during evening hours. Because the Master of Project Management degree is offered in a trimester format, faculty members teach two of the three trimesters per year.

Western Carolina University is a regional comprehensive university located in Cullowhee, NC, in a scenic rural valley between the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains. Cullowhee is 50 miles west of Asheville, NC where many faculty choose to live. The Project Management graduate degree program is the first of its kind in the US and the first program to be accredited by PMI-GAC.

Western Carolina University recognizes and rewards all legitimate forms of scholarly activity described by Ernest Boyer: scholarship of discovery, scholarship of integration, scholarship of application, and scholarship of teaching and learning.

WCU embraces its role as a regionally engaged university and is designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a community engaged university. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to public engagement through their teaching, service, and scholarship.

A Ph.D. in a business discipline or a terminal degree in a related discipline is required.

Applicants who are ABD with a fixed dissertation defense date and completion of all degree requirements on or before August 1, 2019 will be considered.

Preference will be given to applicants who have on-line teaching experience, applicants with at least a year of work-related project management or management experience, and applicants with a PMP certification.

Candidates must apply on-line at https://jobs.wcu.edu/postings/8272
