>> Special Issue on Forecasting for Social Good
>>
>> The area of forecasting and its link to decision making has been under research for decades. Whilst there have been many influential contributions seeking to examine the effects of forecasting under financial and economic motives, very little has been contributed (both in regular conferences and journal publications) on forecasting with social impact ? that is forecasting for the social good, regardless of the financial implications, or optimizations attempted based on economic terms.
>>
>> The International Journal of Forecasting (IJF) is excited to announce this Call For Papers for the special issue on ?Forecasting for Social Good?. The purpose of the special issue is to attract high quality papers that are concerned with the social impact of forecasting.
>>
>> Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
>> Health and healthcare
>> Humanitarian operations
>> Disaster relief
>> Education
>> Social services
>> Environment
>> Sustainability
>> Sharing economy
>> Transportation
>> Urban planning
>> Fraud, collusion, and corruption
>> Government policy
>> Poverty
>> Privacy
>> Cyber security
>> Crime and terrorism
>>
>> Submission Deadline: 31 October 2018.
>>
>> Submission Guidelines:
>>
>> To submit a paper for consideration for the Special Issue, please upload your paper online and include a cover letter clearly indicating that the paper is for the special issue ?Forecasting for Social Good?. The webpage for online submission is mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ijf. Instructions for authors are provided at www.forecasters.org/ijf/authors . All papers will follow IJF?s double-blind refereeing process. For further information about the Special Issue, please contact the guest editors.

*IISE Transactions on Healthcare Systems Engineering*
*Special Issue **Call for Papers*
*Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Informatics: Learning, Optimization, and Decision Making*
*Description:*
Fast-growing biomedical and healthcare data have encompassed multiple scales ranging from molecules, individuals, to populations and have connected various entities in healthcare systems (providers, pharma,
payers) with increasing bandwidth, depth, and resolution. Those data are becoming an enabling resource for accelerating basic science discoveries and facilitating evidence-based clinical solutions. Meanwhile, the sheer volume and complexity of the data present major barriers toward their translation into effective clinical actions. There is thus a compelling demand for novel algorithms, including machine learning, data mining and optimization, that specifically tackle the unique challenges associated with biomedical and healthcare data and allow decision-makers and stakeholders to better interpret and exploit the data.
This special issue is aimed at connecting research on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, operations research, medical decision makings, health informatics, smart and connected devices, statistics, systems engineering, and other related fields with the common goals to (1) develop new data-driven models to extract knowledge from complex healthcare datasets for clinical knowledge discovery and decision making; (2) integration of these data driven models with decision making models for better clinical decision makings; and (3) new types of data collection, sensing systems for better healthcare quality and patient outcomes. In order to provide a publication venue to promote and present these emerging research topics, IISE transactions on Healthcare Systems Engineering invites researchers, clinicians, scientists and engineers to submit their innovative research papers on the topic of AI, machine learning, operations research, human factor, sensing, health monitoring and intervention, and systems modeling, for healthcare informatics.
This special issue will be a partnership between the 3rd International Workshop on *B*iomedical inf*O*rmatics with *O*ptimization and *M*achine learning (BOOM) with the IISE Transactions on Healthcare Systems Engineering. The BOOM workshop is in conjunction with Federated AI Meeting of AAMAS, ICML, and IJCAI (FAIM). In 2016 and 2017, BOOM workshop has partnered with two journals and received a good number of high-quality
