How can we better understand and improve the interactions between healthcare staff and delivery systems?
Healthcare systems are a safety-critical work environment. Achieving quality in such systems is dependent on 24-7 performance of skilled workers. However, caregiving staff in these environments are exposed to challenging work schedules and a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial demands that can impact their health, safety, and performance.

This special issue will include contributions aimed at understanding and improving interactions between healthcare staff and the delivery system, including tools and technologies, tasks, the physical environment, and organizational structures. Note that this call for papers is in collaboration with the IISE Transactions on Healthcare Systems Engineering <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.tandfonline.com_toc_uhse21_current&d=DwIFaQ&c=Ngd-ta5yRYsqeUsEDgxhcqsYYY1Xs5ogLxWPA_2Wlc4&r=Ue5eprQ_fMYcavWXDDYHbKQI0IFAmpjoy6QR5xcYCC4Qd5ukwoooDHsBFMkK-u0r&m=yitq_YpksSJEqQuuFupNscct1GGZJ_qWMt1PcFLkcrs&s=BAWODCNhUrntAJu0QLnLmkU4KGNrdN9xlvhBmXgPFHI&e= >.

What can I contribute?
Submissions are welcomed using any of the journal’s manuscript types. Topics for the special issue should have occupational relevance (i.e., a focus on healthcare staff) and include, but are not limited to, the following: Interactions between staff performance, safety, or health and healthcare technologies, tasks, environments, and organization
Issues in perceptual, cognitive, physical, psychosocial and organizational ergonomics aspects impacting healthcare staff are all welcome
Methodological diversity is encouraged, and relevant papers including qualitative approaches, action research methodologies, surveys, computer modeling, technical measurements, and observational approaches are all welcome

Submission and Timeline:
All papers should be submitted through the journal’s ScholarOne online submission website (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__mc.manuscriptcentral.com_oehf&d=DwIFaQ&c=Ngd-ta5yRYsqeUsEDgxhcqsYYY1Xs5ogLxWPA_2Wlc4&r=Ue5eprQ_fMYcavWXDDYHbKQI0IFAmpjoy6QR5xcYCC4Qd5ukwoooDHsBFMkK-u0r&m=yitq_YpksSJEqQuuFupNscct1GGZJ_qWMt1PcFLkcrs&s=wD-Zpx-o8gRzt6caKIe1TBT2H5sGYX0mmwh_myS7IFk&e= <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__mc.manuscriptcentral.com_oehf&d=DwIFaQ&c=Ngd-ta5yRYsqeUsEDgxhcqsYYY1Xs5ogLxWPA_2Wlc4&r=Ue5eprQ_fMYcavWXDDYHbKQI0IFAmpjoy6QR5xcYCC4Qd5ukwoooDHsBFMkK-u0r&m=yitq_YpksSJEqQuuFupNscct1GGZJ_qWMt1PcFLkcrs&s=wD-Zpx-o8gRzt6caKIe1TBT2H5sGYX0mmwh_myS7IFk&e= >).
