The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, is very pleased to invite applications for two full-time, tenure-track academic year faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank beginning Fall 2018.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial engineering, establish externally-funded research programs, contribute to mentoring students, and provide services to the department, the college, the university, and the community.

A Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, operations research, data science, or a closely related field is required for each position.

We are particularly seeking to hire one candidate with teaching and research interests in enterprise/industrial analytics and applications of data science in industrial engineering as we transform our curriculum in this area.

For the second position, candidates should have interests in operations research/optimization, logistics, enterprise/industrial analytics, production planning and facilities design, engineering/project management, industrial simulation, ergonomics, and/or design of industrial systems such as those in the healthcare, energy, financial services, information services, and manufacturing industries.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and laboratory- and project-based instruction and a broad-based knowledge of industrial engineering.  Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language is required.  Candidates with relevant industry experience are encouraged to apply.  Past experience and a commitment to working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting is preferred.
