Dear Colleagues:

The Lean Division of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE)
is sponsoring the Lean Systems Track at the 2017 IISE Annual Conference and
Expo. The conference is a forum for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in
the industrial and systems engineering research and practitioner
communities. The 2017 IISE Annual Conference and Expo will be one
conference. There are no longer separate ISERC and Applied Solutions
sessions. This exciting change will bring researchers and practitioners
together to share the latest advances in Lean Systems.

The Lean Systems Track strives to be the premier global reference on lean
process principles by maintaining discussions on and sharing the latest
research and industrial applications. The Lean Systems Track accepts
abstracts from both academic and field practitioners that demonstrate
either new engineering learning or the successful implementation of lean
principles in any industrial or administrative setting.

As track chairs of the Lean Systems Track, we would like to encourage you
to contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract. Authors of
accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work in a session. Each
session will be 80 minutes and have four presenters. Each speaker will have
20 minutes for his or her presentation. Abstracts are welcome in all lean
systems research areas. The following areas are some of the example areas:

• Lean Systems Optimization

• Effective Lean Systems Implementation

• Lean Systems Best Practices

• Lean Systems and Value Chain

• Lean Systems Approaches in Manufacturing Industry

• Lean Systems Approaches in Service Industry

• Advanced Lean Systems Research

We strongly encourage all presenters to submit a full length paper for the
conference proceedings. The papers should contain results that are
*significant* and have *archival value* to the industrial and systems
engineering research and practitioner community. Full papers have a
six-page limit and will undergo a double-blind peer review process. All
accepted papers are indexed by ProQuest. IISE is currently working on
uploading papers of previous years onto the IISE website. Papers are not
required, but strongly encouraged. Presentation only submissions will not
be indexed in the conference proceedings.

The important deadlines for the conference are (*NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE

If your abstract or paper is accepted: (a) the presenting author for the
paper must register for the conference by *March 13, 2017*
(presentations/papers without the presenting author registered for the
conference will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings); (b) the
presenting author must attend and present the paper at the conference
(presenting authors who fail to attend will have their paper withdrawn from
the proceedings); and (c) we ask that you be ready to serve as a reviewer
for fellow authors and follow review deadlines - all authors who submit a
paper are expected to review two papers.

There are also opportunities to organize invited sessions or panels. In
addition to research and practitioner presentations, the annual conference
