Dear Colleagues:

The Operations Research Division of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) is sponsoring the Operations Research Track at the 2017 IISE Annual Conference and Expo. The conference is a forum for exchanging knowledge and discoveries in the industrial and systems engineering research and practitioner communities. The 2017 IISE Annual Conference and Expo will be one conference. There are no longer separate ISERC and Applied Solutions sessions. This exciting change will bring researchers and practitioners together to share the latest advances in the broad field of Operations Research. To see the additional changes for the 2017 IISE Annual Conference and Expo, please visit:

As track chairs of the Operations Research Track, we would like to encourage you to contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract. Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work in a session. Each session will be 80 minutes and have four presenters. Each speaker will have 20 minutes for his or her presentation. Contributions may be either methodological or applied in nature, but should serve to advance the state-of-the-art in industrial and systems engineering and its intersection with operations research. Abstracts are welcomed in all major areas of operations research including (but not limited to):

Approximate Dynamic Programming

Data Driven Models and Tools

Dynamic Programming

Heuristic Procedures

Integer Programming

Markov Decision Processes

Multi-Objective/Multi-Criteria Optimization

Nonlinear Programming

Optimization under Uncertainty

Queueing Theory and Applications

Scheduling Theory and Applications

Stochastic Modeling and Analysis

Stochastic Programming

We strongly encourage all presenters to submit a full length paper for the conference proceedings. The papers should contain results that are significant and have archival value to the industrial and systems engineering research and practitioner community. Full papers have a six-page limit and will undergo a double-blind peer review process. All accepted papers are indexed by ProQuest. IISE is currently working on uploading papers of previous years onto the IISE website. Papers are not required, but strongly encouraged. Presentation only submissions will not be indexed in the conference proceedings.

The important deadlines for the conference are (NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE EXTENSIONS)

· Abstract Submission Deadline: November 7, 2016

· Notification of Decision on Abstract: November 28, 2016

· Submission of Full Papers (optional but encouraged): January 16, 2017

· Notification of Decision on Paper: February 20, 2017

· Final Version of Full Paper Due: March 6, 2017

· Presenting Author Registration Deadline: March 13, 2017

· Schedule Published April 3, 2017

· 2017 IISE Annual Conference and Expo May 20-23, 2017

If your abstract or paper is accepted: (a) the presenting author for the paper must register for the conference by March 13, 2017 (presentations/papers without the presenting author registered for the conference will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings); (b) the presenting author must attend and present the paper at the conference (presenting authors who fail to attend will have their paper withdrawn from the proceedings); and (c) we ask that you be ready to serve as a reviewer for fellow authors and follow review deadlines - all authors who submit a paper are expected to review two papers.

There are also opportunities to organize invited sessions or panels. In addition to research and practitioner presentations, the annual conference offers many opportunities for attendees, including plant tours, networking, and keynote speakers.

We look forward to seeing you in Pittsburgh!
