Dear Colleagues,

The Computer & Information Systems Division (CIS) of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) is pleased to announce the 5th Annual IISE-CIS Mobile App Competition. The objectives of the IISE-CIS Mobile App Competition are (1) to motivate students to use their creativity in developing mobile apps that are based on theories and practices of Industrial & Systems Engineering (or related fields), and (2) to develop a business plan to justify the need for their mobile app in the market place.

Participating teams will have approximately six months to develop their mobile app. The winners of the competition will be announced in the IISE-CIS Town Hall meeting to be held at the 2017 IISE Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (May 20 - May 23, 2017).

Please refer to the attached PDF file for detailed information, such as competition schedule, eligibility of participants, competition scope, evaluation process, etc. The following are some critical dates:

November 7, 2016: Deadline for submission of two-page proposal.
November 21, 2016: Notices of proposal acceptance sent via email.
February 20, 2017: Deadline for submission of prototype mobile app and mobile app documentation.
March 12, 2017: Notification to finalist teams sent via email.
May 20 ~ May 23, 2017: Final competition and awards ceremony.
