CALL FOR PAPERS
Contributions to Stochastic Models of Manufacturing and Service Operations
Special Issue of IIE Transactions on Design and Manufacturing
Purpose
The purpose of this issue is to present state-of-the art research results in
the area of stochastic models and methods for the analysis, design,
planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing and service operations.
Surveys in this area are also welcome. The focus is on operations which are
subject to unpredictable variations and disruptions, causing congestion,
shortages, quality problems, customer withdrawals, and other adverse effects
that can severely impair system performance. As this issue is associated
with the Design and Manufacturing Focus Issue, the emphasis is on
manufacturing operations. Manuscripts with topics in the area of service
operations will be considered as long as they have relevance to or analogs
in manufacturing.
Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to:
analysis of production lines and WIP-controlled production-inventory
systems
analysis of queueing systems and networks with applications in
manufacturing/service systems
inventory and supply chain management
strategic customer behavior in manufacturing/service systems
the quality-productivity and maintenance-productivity interface
simulation-optimization approaches for the analysis of manufacturing and
service operations
A number of new results in the thematic area of this issue were presented in
the 10th Conference on Stochastic Models of Manufacturing and Service
Operations (SMMSO 2015), Volos, Greece, 1-6 June 2015, which attracted
several leading scholars and young researchers. This special issue is
intended to disseminate these new results together with those obtained by
other researchers in this area. We believe that such dissemination will
benefit both theoreticians and practitioners. We invite all members of the
community to submit a paper.
Review Process
The contributions will be reviewed in accordance with the standard IIE
Transactions procedures. Authors should submit their paper to the special
issue through the online manuscript submission and tracking system, Scholar
One's Manuscript Central, at
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tandf/iietransactions, and follow the
instructions.
Important dates
Manuscript submission deadline: June 1, 2016
Notification of disposition of the manuscript: November 1, 2016
Final revisions due: June 1, 2017
