CALL FOR APPLICATIONSFOR 2016 SETH BONDER SCHOLARSHIP IN APPLIED HEALTH SERVICES
INFORMSHealthApplications Society (HAS) is seekingnominations/applications for the 2016 Bonder Scholarshipfor Applied Operations Research in Health Services. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote the development andapplication of process modeling and operations research analyses to health caredesign, delivery and operations by identifying young and promising researchersduring their doctoral studies.
The scholarshipoffers a research fund of $4,000, and the opportunity to apply for anadditional support of $1,000 to cover expenses that will be incurred during thewinner’s travel to 2016 INFORMS Annual Conference. Starting with the year afterthe award is won; the winner also becomes eligible to apply for further traveland research awards that are annually offered by Seth Bonder ResearchFoundation exclusively to former Bonder Scholars. Last but not least, INFORMSAnnual Meetings host designated “Bonder Scholars” sessions that showcase thecompleted or ongoing research conducted by Bonder Scholars and theircollaborators, and Bonder Scholars find the privilege to speak and disseminatetheir research in these sessions.
Please encourage youradvisees and other qualified individuals in your network who are buildingcreative work with strong academic rigor and/or practical relevance at thecrossroads of operations research/operations management and healthcare to applyfor Bonder Scholarship. Applications are due by June 10, 2016, (midnightPacific Standard Time) and must consist of the following documents:
1)     A detailed curriculumvitae of the applicant
2)     Two letters ofsupport one of which is expected to be from the applicant’s main academicadvisor and this letter should include astatement that the applicant has completed one academic year but no more thanthree academic years in any doctoral program. Applicants’ reference providers should separately address theirnominations/support letters to the email address provided below subject to the samedeadline set for the applicants
3)     A one-page careergoals statement describing why the candidate is interested in applyingoperations research to healthcare issues
4)     A three-page summaryof proposed program of research (the three page limit does not include thereferences to be cited therein). Applicants should pay special attention todelineating the completed and projectedcontributions of their doctoral studies within this three page document.
All applications, support letters andadditional required materials should be submitted to: 2016.bonder.scholarship at gmail.com.
All applicants shouldexpect to be notified with the results of the competition by August 20, 2016.
Thescholarship will be granted on the basis of excellence, innovation, candidate’spreparation to undertake the proposed program of research, and likelihood of successin his/her projected plan.
