*Production Management: Advanced Tools, Models, and Applications for Pull
Systems*

Editor: Yacob Khojasteh, Ph.D.

(Associate Professor of Operations Management, Sophia University, Tokyo,
Japan)

Publisher: CRC Press (Taylor & Francis Group)

Production control systems (PCS) play a critical role in cost optimization
of today’s global supply chains. PCS manage the physical material flow on
manufacturing plant and are therefore a key driver for inventory levels and
production costs. Since the introduction of Toyota’s just-in-time
philosophy, pull control strategies have been adopted by numerous companies
worldwide both in the manufacturing and service sectors. The most
well-known pull control strategies are Kanban, constant work-in-process
(CONWIP), and their extensions. This book provides some recent developments
in production management and presents modeling and analysis tools for pull
production control systems. It includes up-to-date academic research
findings to manage and control production systems. Chapters will cover new
models, strategies, and analyses that are essential for pull production
systems.

*Topics covered:*

Potential topics related to pull production systems include, but are not
limited to the following:

· Card-based control strategies in pull systems

· Modeling and analyzing pull control systems

· New models and developments on Kanban, CONWIP, or Base-stock

· Performance analysis and comparison of pull control systems

· Performance evaluation – pull vs push systems

· Analytical methods and developments

· Dynamic card control strategies for pull systems

· Just in time and lean production systems

· Case studies and industrial applications

· Literature review (to provide theoretical insights based on review
of relevant literature)

*Submission:*

Interested contributors are invited to submit a 2-3 page chapter
proposal clearly
explaining the aims and objectives of the proposed chapter by February 28,
2016.

The proposal should contain:

1) Title of the proposed chapter, 2) Author(s) of the chapter (including
position and affiliation), 3) Type of contribution (research paper, case
study, etc.), 4) Estimated number of pages, 5) Keywords (2 to 5), 6)
Extended abstract (up to 500 words) describing contents of the book chapter
(including methodology).

*Important Dates:*

February 28, 2016: Proposal Submission Deadline

March 15, 2016: Notification of Acceptance

July 30, 2016: Full Chapter Submission Deadline

September 30, 2016: Review Results

November 30, 2016: Revised Chapter Submission

December 31, 2016: Final Chapter Submission
