2016 Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference
( http://www.iienet.org/Annual2/ )
Disneyland Resort Hotel, Anaheim, California
May 21 24, 2016
**Safety, Human Factors and Ergonomics Track**
Dear Colleagues:
The Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) is sponsoring a Safety, Human
Factors and Ergonomics (SHFE) Track at the 2016 Industrial and Systems
Engineering Research Conference (ISERC). The ISERC, which is part of the IIE
Annual Conference and Expo, is a forum for exchanging knowledge and
discoveries in the industrial and systems engineering research community.
Last year, the Institute sponsored a Human Factors and Ergonomics Track as
part of ISERC 2015. The track included 12 sessions and over 60 papers and
presentations.
As chairs of the new SHFE Track for this year¹s meeting, we invite you to
contribute to the conference by submitting an abstract of 100-200 words on
your current research. Abstracts can be submitted online at:
https://www.xcdsystem.com/iie/abstract/index.cfm?ID=6B8fx1H
<https://www.xcdsystem.com/iie/abstract/index.cfm?ID=6B8fx1H> . Submissions
are welcome in the following areas:
METHODS: APPLICATIONS:
· Analytical methods for SHFE · Cognitive engineering for
optimized systems design · Cognitive and physical performance modeling
· Cognitive workload analysis and systems design ·
Human-automation interaction design and analysis · Human-centered
design engineering · Human-computer interaction design · Human
factors and ergonomics in assistive technology design · Human factors
and ergonomics in product/systems design · Human factors and
ergonomics in design for special populations · Human factors and
ergonomics considerations in manufacturing processes · Human
performance measurement in work tasks · Human-robot interaction design
and analysis · Industrial risk assessment methods · Occupational
biomechanics industrial task analyses · Occupational ergonomics
interventions in industry · Occupational safety and health ·
Office ergonomics analysis methods · Multimodal interface design ·
Musculoskeletal disorder studies cumulative trauma disorders ·
System safety techniques and analyses · Team design and training ·
User interface design · Virtual reality validity, training and
assessment · Aviation · Healthcare · Industrial assembly
operations · Manual materials handling · Manufacturing ·
Military operations and systems · Process control ·
Rehabilitation · Service industries · Surface transportation
· Virtual environment simulators and training systems
All abstracts are due by November 8, 2014. Authors of accepted abstracts
will be invited to present their work in ISERC sessions. Each session will
be 75 minutes and have 3 or 4 presenters. All presenters will also be
encouraged to submit a full-length paper for the conference proceedings.
Papers should present research results that are significant and have
archival value to the industrial and systems engineering research community.
Full papers have a six-page limit and will undergo a double-blind peer
review process. All accepted papers will be indexed by ProQuest.
(Presentations without a paper are acceptable, but will not be indexed in
the conference proceedings.)
Additional important deadlines for the conference are as follows:
· Abstract submission deadline:
November 8, 2015
· Notification of Decision on Abstract:
December 15, 2015
· Submission of Full Papers (optional but encouraged): January
30, 2016
· Notification of Decision on Paper:
February 27, 2016
· Final Version of Full paper Due:
March 13, 2016
· Presenting Author Registration Deadline:
March 22, 2016
If your abstract or paper is accepted: (a) the presenting author for the
paper must register for the conference by March 22, 2016
(presentations/papers without the presenting author being registered for the
conference will be withdrawn from the program and the proceedings); (b) the
presenting author must attend and present the paper at the conference; and
(c) you will be asked to serve as a reviewer of other submissions to the
SHFE Track.
Beyond making an individual contribution and serving as a submission
reviewer, there is also an opportunity to organize invited sessions or
panels. This year we would like to place a special emphasis on: (1)
advancing occupational and systems safety research; (2) driver safety in
connected vehicle, semi-autonomous, and/or autonomous vehicle use; (3)
design of human-robot interaction for cognitive workload reduction; and (4)
emerging areas in human factors and ergonomics. Please contact us directly
if you are interested in organizing a special session or panels with focused
content.
We look forward to seeing you at Disneyland!
