Open Postdoctoral Research Position Located at Texas A&M University at Qatar

As part of a research project jointly awarded to Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) and Texas A&M University (TAMU) in College Station, Texas, a postdoctoral position located at Texas A&M University at Qatar (in Doha, Qatar) is open for hiring to start around March 2015 (subject to approval) for the duration of one year, which can be extended for another two years subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants with research interest in mathematical optimization including theory and computation will be considered. Background in large-scale computing algorithms, network models, statistical modeling, and/or reliability will be advantageous. Experience with programming languages and mathematical optimization software such as CPLEX is very desirable.

The position entails close interaction with the faculty and students involved in the project both at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in TAMUQ (http://meen.qatar.tamu.edu/Pages/Home.aspx) and Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at TAMU (http://engineering.tamu.edu/industrial) as well as other parties of interest in academia and industry. Direct involvement in developing optimization models and solution algorithms will be expected. Verification of models and algorithms in a pilot study on sensor networks is anticipated. Publication in high-quality journals, conference presentation, and future grant proposal writing will be among other duties of this position.

A Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other closely related fields as well as very good knowledge of written and spoken English are among the requirements for this position. Publication in high quality journals/conferences will make the candidate's case much stronger.

The work location will be at the TAMUQ Engineering Building, a modern research/education facility at the heart of Education City in Doha, Qatar. Position benefits include:
