PhD Position at University of Arkansas
The AT&T Manufacturing Automation Laboratory, located in the Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas, seeks an outstanding PhD student to fill a funded assistantship starting in Fall 2015. The ideal candidate would have a Master's in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, and possess research and/or industrial experience in advanced manufacturing, automation, robotics, and/or additive manufacturing. Due to funded DoD projects, US citizens and permanent residents are especially encouraged to apply.
The lab is equipped with three Adept industrial robots, a Baxter collaborative robot, and a Stratasys additive manufacturing machine. Current research subjects include collaborative robotics, digital design integrity for additive manufacturing, and process improvement for a low-volume, high-mix fabrication organization. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to work on applied industrial projects through the Center for Excellence in Logistics and Distribution.
Applicants may apply online through the Graduate School at https://waprd.uark.edu/web-apps/uark/apply/.
