Objective of the Conference
The objective of the conference is to provide an opportunity for academics to discuss new concepts, progressive methodologies, embryonic approaches and innovative practices within the world of business and the wider social environment. Given that social enquiry is still a maturing field of study within this region, it is crucial that business systems, processes and structures are considered in conjunction with contributions from such contemporary fields of discourse as media studies, psychology, sociology and tourism education. This is indeed pertinent for understanding service sector economies and societies, as well as comprehending the future role of education as a strategy and contributor to a sustainable learning culture and environment.

In consideration of presenters who may be unable to attend COES&RJ Conferences in person due to funding or time constraints, Virtual Presentations have been added to the program with the same validity (publication, certification, etc.) as the face-to-face (F2F) conference and with the capability to interact with session participants.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Md. Mamun Habib  
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Md. Mamun Habib is a Visiting Scholar at the School of Quantitative Sciences (SQS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Malaysia. Prior to that, he was working as Associate Professor at the Dept. of Operations Management, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Supply Chain Management (IJSCM) which publishes from London, UK. He also involves with online learning programme at University of Roehampton (UoR), London, UK. He accomplished his Ph.D. and M.S. with outstanding performance in Computer & Engineering Management (CEM) from Assumption University, Thailand. 

He developed a Supply Chain Management model entitled ITESCM (Integrated Tertiary Educational Supply Chain Management) model for Tertiary Educational Institutions at his doctoral degree level. Furthermore, he has more than 12-year experience in the field of teaching for graduate and postgraduate students, as well as in training, consultancy and research. He is supervising few Ph.D. students at SQS, UUM. In addition, he is Ph.D. Dissertation Committee member of GSB (Graduate School of Business), Assumption University, Thailand; Ph.D. External examiner of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) – Deemed University, India and National Institute of Technology (NIT), India. 

His core research areas are supply chain management, production & operations management, operations research, engineering management, technology management, and educational management. Finally, Dr. Habib is an active member of different professional organizations, including IEEE (Senior Member Grade), IEOM Society (President of SCM Technical Group), IEB, AIMS, INFOMS, just to name a few.

Tips and Techniques to Publish International Research Publications

Synopsis

Publishing in international journals is important to the careers of scholars in most educational institutions, yet many experience frustration upon submitting their research papers. Scholars receive critical comments from reviewers on work which they believe to be close to perfection, and in the majority of cases, submitted papers are rejected by top international journals. This high degree of frustration and rejection is caused by multiple sources including the quality of the research itself, the quality of the written report of the research, mismatches between the paper and journal to which it is submitted, management problems at some journals resulting in slow reviews, and poor communications among authors, reviewers, and editors. 

This workshop will discuss the reviewing and publishing process, using International Journal of Supply Chain Management (IJSCM), IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management as examples. First, the overall process of submission and review will be described. Next, the perspectives of the various parties involved in the review process: Authors, Editors-in-Chief, Department Editors, Editorial Assistants, Editorial Review Board members, and Ad Hoc Reviewers will be reviewed. Finally, suggestions will be offered to authors as to how to choose journals for particular papers, how to prepare a manuscript for submission, how to prepare a useful transmittal letter to the Editor-in-Chief, how to respond to reviewer comments, how to prepare a revised manuscript, and what to do with a rejected manuscript. The workshop should help scholars to reflect on their own experiences as researchers, authors, reviewers, and editors. 

The workshop will conclude with reflections on the role of publishing in the academic promotion process and in academic careers. It will be interactive and tailored to the interests of those attending, so bring your questions and comments!
