Position Title:
Postdoctoral Fellow in Modeling and Analysis of the Supply Chain Risk

Duties & Responsibilities:
A postdoctoral position in the area of modeling and analysis of supply chain risk available in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. The initial one-year appointment will begin January 4, 2016 (or later date), and it may be extended contingent upon research performance for another year.

The post-doc will be working with a research team to develop representative supply chain network models for different industries/domains of interest to develop understanding of perceived vs. actual supply chain risk. The networks to be developed will contain typical supply chain structure for the domain of interest with respect to Echelons/Tiers; Connectivity; Geography; Redundancy; Modes of Transportation; Capacity; and Product Lines.

In addition, the research team plans to conduct industry-wide interviews/survey to fill in missing information about network structure, risk exposure/experience in the industry, lessons learned, and will conduct an extensive review of the published literature in this important area of focus.

The position is part of a larger research program at Clemson focused on supply chain optimization, logistics, and risk modeling. The postdoctoral fellow will be working with Dr. Scott Mason in developing models and algorithms for analyzing large-scale, complex systems under uncertainty. This research should culminate in journal publications and/or teaching case studies. Applicants with background in the following related areas are also encouraged to apply:

· Large-scale systems modeling and analysis

· Stochastic optimization

· Supply chain analysis

· Risk modeling and analysis

The successful applicant will have domain expertise in supply chain-related field(s) and applications, coupled with a strong academic record and demonstrated scholarship. Other responsibilities may also include participating in grant writing, and co-supervising undergraduate and graduate students on research.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in industrial or systems engineering, operations research, or other-related fields before the appointment begins. In addition, applicants should have experience with using quantitative or analytical approaches to solve supply chain risk-related problems. Strong written and oral communication skills are a must. A strong technical background is expected, and successful applicants will also exhibit leadership or organizational strengths.

To Apply:
Please send a complete application package in a single PDF document containing 1) a cover letter, 2) a complete CV, 3) a maximum 2-page statement of you research interests, and 4) the names and full contact details for three professional references to mason at clemson.edu<mailto:mason at clemson.edu>. Applications received by January 1, 2016 are guaranteed full consideration; however, applications will continue to be received until the position is filled.
