POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT - INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY INSTRUCTOR 

DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING - LAMAR UNIVERSITY

 

 

The Department of Industrial Engineering at Lamar University is seeking a
lab instructor to join the Department beginning September 2014. Lamar
University (LU), a member of the Texas State University System, has
experienced tremendous growth over the past decade, with enrollment
steadily increasing to more than 15,000. LU has been recognized nationally
for its selection as a member of the Honor Roll of the Chronicle of Higher
Education's "Great Colleges to Work For", and in 2013 was ranked 11th in
the US for return on investment for engineering majors by PayScale, Inc.

 

We are accepting applications for a lab instructor. The successful
candidate will have a Master's degree (or above) in a relevant field of
technology and lab teaching experience at the college level for a minimum
of 5 years. Candidates must have proven abilities in manufacturing,
machining, CNC programming and operation, CAD/CAM, and general computer
administration/networking.

 

The work of the successful candidate will include, but are not limited to:

 

1.    Safe instruction of several sections of the undergraduate
manufacturing lab. In particular, a successful candidate must know how to
safely program and operate CNC and traditional/manual lathes, mills, drill
presses, grinders, table top robots, and other equipment and convey this
safe operation to students. 

2.    The ability to work some evenings and weekends. Some labs are
currently offered in the evenings and weekends.

3.    Lab equipment installation, preventative maintenance and repair.

4.    General computer administration and software/hardware installation
and maintenance. 

5.    Software and hardware equipment purchases and inventory control. 

6.    Provide general support in other Industrial Engineering labs
(micro-machining, human factors and ergonomics, etc.).

7.    Instruction and supervision of part time student assistants.

8.    The job requires a somewhat flexible schedule and moderate physical
demands.
