Arizona State University is looking for a Director for the Decision Theatre (DT). The DT is a place to bring together groups to collaborate on decision making with a heavy focus on modeling, visualization and analytics. It is designed to be a research facility with a mission of addressing large societal problems from both a policy and detailed decision perspective. The Director could be but does not necessarily need to be a faculty member.

Arizona State University Decision Theater Director Job Description
The ASU Decision Theater Network, a world-class research facility and decision lab created through an ASU strategic investment, is currently seeking a Director with demonstrated research leadership skills and technical experience in large-scale data management, visualization and analytics. The DTN has expanded from its base in Tempe, AZ to include a site in Washington, D. C., with potential international collaboration opportunities. The Director will be responsible for leading and defining strategic opportunities, developing partnerships and overseeing operations of the DTN. Working in concert with the Executive Director, the Director develops and executes the Decision Theater research vision; seeks external funding; promotes faculty participation and research alliances; plans, directs and reviews activities and operations for the Tempe, AZ Decision Theater and Network sites; coordinates projects with researchers and sponsoring agencies; manages project design, development and evaluation and identifies talent and expertise at the university. In coordination with Decision Theater operational staff the Director hires and supervises staff and students; ensures appropriate training and effective allocation of time and talent to advance specific projects; develops budgets and oversees financial and administrative operations. The Director also represents the Decision Theater Network at meetings with university, federal and corporate research partners as well as state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils and committees. Depending on qualifications the Director may also hold a faculty position.

Successful candidates will have a Doctoral (PhD) degree or Master's degree with a minimum of two years of executive leadership experience in Computer Science, Decision Science, Information Systems, Information Visualization, Mathematics, Network Science or related field. The candidate will have proposal writing and strategic planning experience and a demonstrated background in leading large scale interdisciplinary research teams.
