Non-tenure Track Faculty Position in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering


[DomeWdUnit-L] The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering<http://www.engineering.uiowa.edu/mie> and the Department of Biomedical Engineering<http://www.engineering.uiowa.edu/bme> at The University of Iowa invite applications for a non-tenure track teaching faculty position (lecturer) in biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering with a start date in spring semester 2015. It is expected that the successful candidate will be an engaging and effective teacher of undergraduate classes in various areas of biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering.  Candidates with teaching interests in biofluid mechanics, biomechanics, energy systems, experimental engineering, and instrumentation are encouraged to apply. The position is split equally between Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Position responsibilities include effective laboratory development, supervision, classroom teaching of undergraduate courses, and working with other faculty on innovative teaching methods and curricular advances. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required and effective communication skills are vital. Experience in teaching and supervising laboratory experiments is desired.  Annual salary is $76,000-commensurate for an academic year appointment; UI benefits are excellent.
