US NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION STUDENT TRAVEL GRANT FOR 2014 ISERC

We are pleased to announce that the US National Science Foundation will award travel grants to selected students attending the 2014 ISERC being held in Montreal, Canada from May 31 – June 3, 2014. This announcement outlines the award selection criteria and application procedure for this award.

Guidelines:

  1.  Any student enrolled in a US-based university is eligible to apply for the grant.
  2.  All student awardees must register for the conference and are required to attend the conference.
  3.  The fund can only be used to support expenses related to 2014 ISERC.
  4.  Preference will be given to students meeting the following criteria:

A student from an ISE department/program that has agreed to share travel expenses for its students planning to attend the conference;
A student who will present a paper that has been accepted for publication in the conference proceedings;
A student working on research that is supported by an active NSF grant;
A student who is close to graduation, e.g., a last-year undergraduate/graduate student.

Timeline:
Application deadline - Monday, April 07, 2014.
Decision notification - Monday, April 14, 2014.

What to do:

  1.  An applicant should complete the attached application form, provide a recommendation statement from his/her academic advisor, and register for the conference.
  2.  Each application package (including a registration receipt) should be saved as a single PDF file named according to the following format: FirstName_LastName_UniversityName.pdf
  3.  Email the application to BOTH ISERC program co-chairs, Yongpei Guan (guan at ise.ufl.edu) and Haitao Liao (hliao at email.arizona.edu).

Recognition:
Each awardee will receive partial financial support (e.g., 100% reimbursement for registration) and a certificate of recognition.
