Description
The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for an academic non-tenure track position to serve as faculty advisor to undergraduate ISyE students and teach one ISyE course per semester. The responsibilities span three main functions:
Advising:
- Academically advise a large number of IE undergrads on their degree requirements: course plans, IE track selection, study abroad, coop and internships, minors and certificates, etc.
- Provide career counseling and referrals
- Manage the advising processes for undergraduate students on probation, academically dismissed, and readmitted after academic dismissal; work with the associate chair of undergraduate studies and director of student services to improve retention and academic success
- Teach IE focused GT 1000 for freshman students in the fall
- Teach IE focused GT 1000 for transfer students in the spring
- Advise IIE student chapter
Recruiting:
- Direct the Mission Possible summer enrichment program for high school students and other K-12 outreach programs
- Participate and be a liaison in undergrad recruiting activities
- Liaison to undergraduate students industry recruiters
Teaching:
- Teach 1 ISyE course per semester in area of expertise
Other duties may be assigned as needed by the Director of Student Services and the School Chair.
Qualifications
PhD degree preferred / MS considered in Industrial Engineering or a related field and have advising experience. Industry/business/government/teaching experience, and/or Professional Licensure are a plus. The academic title will be applied once the final candidate selection has been made.
