The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking outstanding candidates for a John A. Swanson Chair in Industrial Engineering. While the current research interests of the department include operations research and manufacturing, we will consider outstanding candidates in any area of industrial engineering or related fields. Candidates from under-represented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have an outstanding publication record and an international reputation for innovative research. The holder of a Swanson Chair receives a highly competitive salary and a substantial unrestricted research development account.

The Department of Industrial Engineering offers a progressive undergraduate program with about 200 students; a vibrant professional master's program with approximately 80 students; and a rigorous doctoral program with approximately 40 PhD students. About half of our PhD graduates assume positions in academia upon completion. The department offers excellent laboratory facilities and contacts with regional and national corporations.
