Tenure Track Teaching Faculty Positions
Big Data Analytics Position
The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering<http://www.engineering.uiowa.edu/mie> at the University of Iowa invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in industrial engineering in the area of big data analytics, effective Spring or Fall 2014. Candidates for senior ranks will also be considered. An earned doctorate in industrial engineering or a related discipline is required. Candidates with interests in analysis of large data sets with applications in medicine, energy, or industry are particularly encouraged to apply. Faculty responsibilities include effective classroom teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering, developing curricula and laboratories, supervising M.S. and Ph.D. students, publishing journal articles, and establishing and maintaining an externally funded research program that contributes to the overall goals of the College of Engineering. Salary and benefits are excellent. Design and Manufacturing Position

Candidates for senior ranks will be also considered. An earned doctorate in industrial or mechanical engineering or a related discipline is required. Preference will be given to candidates in the areas of engineering design theory, sustainable design, additive manufacturing, and design for manufacturing. Prospective candidates with interests in design form, arts, human aspects of design, and social and global considerations are particularly encouraged to apply. Industrial experience in the field of design and manufacturing is desirable. Teaching Faculty Position in Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering<http://www.engineering.uiowa.edu/mie> at the University of Iowa invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching faculty position (lecturer) in mechanical engineering effective Spring or Fall 2014. It is expected that the successful candidate will be an engaging and effective teacher of undergraduate classes in various areas of mechanical engineering. Candidates with broad teaching interests in areas such as mechanical systems, instrumentation, thermodynamics and fluids are encouraged to apply. Position responsibilities include effective classroom teaching of undergraduate courses, laboratory supervision, and working with other faculty on innovative teaching methods and curricular advances. A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required and effective communication skills are vital. Experience in teaching and supervising laboratory experiments is desired. Annual salary is $75,000-commensurate for a full-time appointment; UI benefits are excellent.
