IIE University Chapter Partners;

As you well know, many of our universities are challenged with bringing in talented high school seniors into the industrial engineering programs as freshman. In interviews with hundreds of college industrial engineering students and young professional IE's, few had any knowledge of what an industrial engineering program was while they were in high school and most discovered our profession after their 'first year' and switched majors into the IE program.

A few years ago, the IIE Industry Advisory Board (IAB) had an initiative which developed and sponsored a YouTube video contest targeted at high school students which was created by our university IIE chapters like yours. The result has been very successful on several fronts with enhanced university chapter involvement, a touch point with our professional members to the universities and a communications tool that focused on high school students which has received over 10K YouTube hits from various universities which have posted their video's.

Following are our recent winners from 2011, 2012 and 2013 which generated ~20K You-Tube hits enhancing exposure to Industrial Engineering to graduating high school students who use social media to help them select their future career.

We would encourage your University IIE Chapter to create a winning YouTube video that would help bring high school junior and seniors a better understanding of what Industrial Engineering is from a student point of view and highly encourage you to submit your own for judging. Along with knowing that this video maybe the reason why a new student selected Industrial Engineering as their major, our IAB Members have personally donated prize funds which will be presented at the upcoming IIE National Conference in Montreal, Canada at the student mixer. First place winner with a monetary prize fund planned at $1000 with additional monetary prize awards for 2nd and 3rd place winners. The presentation of the awards will be held during the Student Mixer at the IIE National Conference.

On behalf of our IIE IAB leadership team, we thank you in advance for considering to support this initiative for our future IE's, along with having a great time creating the video with your chapter.

If you have any questions, please email IAB_You-TubeVideo at iienet.org<mailto:IAB_You-TubeVideo at iienet.org>
