Five Faculty Teaching Positions
Mechanical Engineering non-tenure track faculty position starting fall
2014. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic faculty member in
Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in the area(s) of system
dynamics, & control, and measurements, & instrumentation. Candidates
should demonstrate the following abilities: to innovate and adopt various
teaching methods in the classroom; to develop and teach labs; and to
involve and guide undergraduate students in applied research and senior
design projects. Applicants will be expected to develop a program of
research, preferably in one of the following areas: manufacturing,
materials, biomechanics, or education pedagogy. Candidates should
demonstrate the potential for research and publication, outstanding
teaching, advising and service. Applications from members of groups
traditionally underrepresented on engineering faculties are encouraged.
Candidates with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or closely related
discipline and prior teaching & research experience are strongly
preferred, and exceptional candidates with a Master of Science will also
be considered. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
Two Mechanical Engineering Technology Faculty Positions: a tenure track
and a non-tenure track faculty appointment in the Mechanical Engineering
Technology Department beginning fall 2014. The successful candidate will
have a commitment to undergraduate education and develop a program of
research scholarship. Areas of teaching interest include engineering
graphics, CAD, solid mechanics, FEA, manufacturing, materials,
measurement, and/or machine design. Compatible fields of research may
include manufacturing, additive manufacturing, materials, energy, design
and design systems. The positions require the following:
1. A Ph.D. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or closely
related engineering discipline is required for the tenure-track position.
2. A master's or Ph.D. degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial,
or closely related engineering discipline is required for the non-tenure
track position. This is a continuing, fixed-term, multi-year position.
For both positions, registration as a professional engineer and prior
college-level teaching experience, along with a minimum of five years of
industry experience are preferred.
Two Industrial Engineering Faculty Positions:
1. A tenure track industrial engineering faculty position starting fall
2014. Candidates should be committed to both excellence in undergraduate
education and to developing a sustainable research program. Preference
will be given to candidates with research and teaching expertise in one or
more of the following areas: human factors, manufacturing processes,
manufacturing systems, engineering applications of operations research, or
quality. A Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field, is
required. Applications from members of groups traditionally
underrepresented on engineering faculties are encouraged. Rank will be
commensurate with experience.
2. A non-tenure track faculty position in industrial engineering
starting fall 2014 in the area of human factors, manufacturing processes,
manufacturing systems, engineering applications of operations research, or
quality. Candidates should be committed to excellence in undergraduate
instruction and to developing an applied research program. Candidates with
a Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering and with significant teaching &
research experience at the undergraduate level are strongly preferred.
Exceptional candidates with an M.S. in Industrial Engineering will also be
