The Department of Integrated Systems Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications for a senior-level tenure-track position in manufacturing.

This is one of three positions in a cluster hire initiative in the College of Engineering among the following Departments: Integrated Systems Engineering (ISE), Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). Each appointment will be a joint appointment with a majority appointment in one department and a minority appointment in at least one of the others. The faculty appointed through this cluster hire initiative will assist in defining and building a center of excellence in the design and manufacture of lightweight and high-performance structures and assemblies. It is expected that the three new hires will work together to develop extraordinary new programs.

The successful applicant for the ISE position will be expected to complement existing manufacturing, modeling and characterization strengths in the OSU science and engineering community, working with the manufacturing faculty in ISE as well as faculty with expertise in material science and design in MSE and MAE. Research leadership is expected of this senior-level appointment and the successful applicant will be expected to attract significant federal funding and industrial partnerships leading to the creation of a manufacturing center with federal, industrial and state funding. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desired:

·        Manufacturing processes (including expertise in areas such as integrated product-process design, process development for advanced composite materials and nanocomposites, high precision manufacturing, multiscale modeling and process design)

·        Manufacturing systems (including expertise in areas such as integrated systems for manufacturing processes, manufacturing system development and integration, automation, system dynamics and controls, and agile manufacturing).
