FAIM 2013 – 23rd International Conference on Flexible Automation &
Intelligent Manufacturing
26-28 June 2013, Porto, Portugal

The International Conference Flexible Automation and Intelligent
Manufacturing (FAIM) is the leading international forum to disseminate, to
all branches of automation and manufacturing, information on the most
recent and relevant research, theories and practices.

Following success of our earlier FAIM conferences, the 23rd FAIM 2013
edition will be held in Porto (Portugal) during 26-28 June 2013. The city
of Porto is easily accessible from abroad. Several airlines offer service
to Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport (a very modern airport). The
conference location is just 10 kilometers from the Airport.  The city is
well served by several hotels and has good connections and transportations
facilities (namely, a modern metro network and a wide buses network).

The focus of the FAIM'13 conference is to discuss the theme: “The Challenge
of Sustaining Global Competitive Manufacturing Systems”. Nowadays, in the
context of World Class Manufacturing, the main challenge is not only
achieve competitiveness but mainly how to maintain it along the future.
Hence, FAIM 2013 Conference will promote the knowledge and experience
sharing between researchers and practitioners from different branches of
automation and manufacturing engineering from around the world.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics in the following areas: ***

   - Product, Process and Factory Integrated Design;****
   - Manufacturing Technologies and Intelligent Systems;****
   - Manufacturing Operations Management and Optimisation;****
   - Manufacturing Networks and MicroFactories. ****


Case studies, conceptual papers, review papers, methodological papers, and
quantified analyses as well as multidisciplinary papers on one or more of
the above topics re most welcome.

Acceptance of papers is based on the full paper (up to 8 pages). Each paper
will be evaluated by three members of the International Program Committee.
However, prospective authors should submit a short abstract in advance in
order to check if the proposal topic fits within the conference scope.

Important Dates:
      Abstract Submission Deadline:               November 15, 2012
      Latest Submission Date for Full Papers:  December  31, 2012
      Review Results of Paper Acceptance:      February 28, 2013
      Final Papers Due:                                   March 17, 2013
      Conference Dates:                                 June 26-28, 2013

FAIM 2013 proceedings, to be published by Springer, will be submitted to be
indexed by ISI Web of Science - At least one author must register in order
to have the paper published in the proceedings.
As in previous years, special issues of journals will be published with
selected papers.

Proposals for special sessions and workshops are welcome.
Please consider submitting a paper to FAIM 2013.
