NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY
Two Tenure Track Faculty Positions in the 
Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering
         
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISYE) at Northern
Illinois University invites applications for two anticipated
tenure-track full-time faculty positions at the Assistant Professor
level beginning August 16, 2013. Successful applicants are expected to
hold a doctoral degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related
field with teaching and research experience in:
 
            (1)    Quality, Reliability, Human Factors, or
            (2)   Optimization, Supply Chain, Production Systems.
 
Applicants whose research and teaching interests in application areas
such as health systems, manufacturing systems, warehousing, logistics,
and related areas are preferred. Applicants are expected to teach
graduate level courses, participate in student advisement, establish a
strong externally- funded research program and actively serve the
department, college, university, and community.
 
The department consists of 7 full time faculty members, 130
undergraduate and 45 graduate students. The department offers a ABET
accredited B.S. (with emphasis in Manufacturing Systems, Health Systems,
and Engineering Management; a minor in Sustainable Engineering) and a
M.S. in ISYE. Laboratories for manufacturing, ergonomics, reliability,
and logistics are well established in the department. Strong ties with
industries in the Northern Illinois region have helped ISYF faculty to
attract externally funded research projects on a regular basis. NIU has
over 23,000 students and is located approximately 65 miles west of
Chicago. NIU’s Vision 2020 goals emphasize the importance of distributed
learning, engaged learning experiences for our students, student
recruitment and retention, and funded research.

January 14, 2013, and will be accepted until the position is filled.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
